Local Retiree Coordinator Responsibilities

AFGE needs individuals in locals to serve as retiree coordinators. Local Retiree Coordinators help our Union in many ways:

  • Works with Local leadership to recruit members before they retire and engage the local’s retirees
  • Ideal candidate is a Local member nearing retirement or a recent retiree
  • Identifies Local members nearing retirement and conducts outreach to recruit membership
  • Coordinates Programs for Lunch & Learns on issues affecting retirement

Works to engage retiree members in activities, including:

  • Legislative Advocacy
  • Political Activity
  • Mentoring
  • Organizing
  • Communications
  • Volunteering on events and community service
  • Volunteering in Local office when needed
  • Participation in Central Labor Councils and Alliance for Retired Americans
