And because of their crucial mission, you’d think that TSA officers would get all the support they need to do their job, right? Well, not exactly. Congress is actually threatening to shut down the Department of Homeland Security, the parent agency of TSA. And that means TSA officers will still have to work because their job is considered essential. They just won’t get paid.

TSOs Discover Record Number of Firearms

TSA officers are doing an outstanding job protecting the flying public. In 2014 alone, TSOs discovered a record 2,212 firearms in carry-on bags at airports across the country; a whopping 22% increase from 2013. Of the guns confiscated by officers, more than 80% were loaded.
